Meta Brings Long-Form Text to Threads in New Test
Threads is testing a new long-form text feature, confirmed by Meta, that allows users to attach extended blocks of text to a single post. The feature removes the need for multiple posts when sharing detailed content.
Discovered by iOS app researcher Radu Oncescu, the “text attachment” feature lets users attach longer text with styling options for news snippets, book excerpts, or deep thoughts. Users like Robert P. Nickson shared screenshots demonstrating a gray box with clickable text for scrolling.
The update could retain creators and writers who previously relied on blogs or platforms like Substack for long-form content. Unlike X’s Articles, which require Premium subscriptions, Threads’ text attachments are currently available to all users.
Meta may add multimedia support in the future. The feature joins a lineup of recent updates, including DMs, AI tools, custom feeds, and fediverse integrations, as Threads reaches 400 million monthly users—still behind X’s 600 million.
