Here are Apple’s top AI announcements from WWDC 2025
Apple’s 2023 WWDC keynote was dominated by ambitious AI announcements. By contrast, the 2024 event shifted gears, downplaying Apple Intelligence in favor of updates to its operating systems, services, and software. The presentation also unveiled a sleek new “Liquid Glass” design style and an updated naming convention.
Despite this change in emphasis, AI innovations still played a role. Apple introduced an advanced image recognition feature, a digital workout coach, and a real-time translation service.
Visual Intelligence
Visual Intelligence leverages AI to identify and describe objects, locations, and clothing. The newest version extends its capabilities to interact with on-screen content. For example, while browsing social media, users can initiate an image search drawing from Google Search, ChatGPT, and other sources. Scheduled for release with iOS 26 later this year, the feature can be accessed via the Control Center or a customized Action button.
Workout Buddy
This AI-based training companion uses text-to-speech technology to deliver motivational guidance during workouts. It highlights achievements such as your fastest mile or average heart rate, mimicking the experience of a live personal trainer.
Live Translation
Powered by Apple Intelligence, Live Translation offers real-time translation for text and speech in Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls, enabling seamless multilingual communication.
